India toughened the law on surrogacy

15/02/2013

Starting from 2002 when India allowed surrogacy for commercial purposesmany infertile copuples from other countries of the world applied for the services of local surrogate mothers. The main advantage, undoubtedly, was the low price. However this advantade was compensated with definite disatvantages, namely the quality of the service, which is mainly far from European level, as well as legislative basis regulating the sphere of surrogacy.

However the situation has started changing recently. Thus, only officially registered heterosexual couples can be included in the progrmme. The couple should submit a full package of documents listed in the website of the Ministry of Interior which will enable that couple to get medical visa and contract one of reproductive clinics.
